Watchdog Journalism

Hello Journalism friends,

So I've started with "Watchdog Journalism". Since many of you shied away from this topic, I just go ahead and write a short definition:

"Watchdog Journalism brings to light abuses of power."

That's a very powerful sentence in itself. Let's talk about it! I'm eager to hear your opinion.

Not only in today's world, there is much to say about abuses of power - unfortunately, it has always been an issue. Therefore, watchdog journalism is a really important "tool" that we all desperately need.

Let me review the module book on watchdog journalism:
The module book is a short one (only 12 pages long) that includes historical roots, definition, and central concerns of watchdog journalism. It also contains a brief history of investigative reporting (which is very similar to watchdog journalism) and muckraking. Lastly, the book closes with a perspective on current threats that watchdog journalism faces.

A very well written and comprehensive textbook that I highly recommend reading if you're taking this class at OSJ.
